There are some really good All Natural Sunscreen on the market now. You don’t have to put chemicals on your body or face to block the suns rays from damaging your skin.
There are many natural oils that are skin loving and contain natural sun blocking properties, some of these are:
Red Raspberry Seed (28 – 50 SPF) – a study that was published in 2000. It is said that Red Raspberry seed oil showing absorbance of both UV-B and UV-C makes it an excellent potential broad spectrum UV protectant.
The SPF factor of Red Raspberry Oil is reported to be about the same as titanium dioxide which has a UVB protection rate of between 28 and 50.
This is a great oil to add to your next lotion for it’s SPF and because it high in essential fatty acids with antioxidant properties, making this a wonderful skin healing oil.
Carrot Seed Oil 38 – 40 SPF – Carrot seed oil contains a lot of carotenoids, these are known as super antioxidants which will protect your skin as well as promote new cell growth. Carrot Seed Oil also have very good antiseptic properties.
The exact SPF rating of Carrot Seed is not exact, there was some research that reported between 38 – 40 SPF but when tested there were 2 other oils in the mix. So it may vary a little more.
Wheatgerm Oil – 20 SPF – loaded with vitamins such as A, B, D and E. These vitamins will help to maintain skin health, keeping your skin moisturized and healthy while protecting it from the suns harmful rays.
Aloe Vera – 20 SPF -Aloe Vera is so healing and soothing for sunburns, it can also be added to creams and lotions for it’s sun protecting properties as well.
Soybean Oil – 10 SPF – another oil that has wonderful moisturizing properties, this oil also contains vitamins B, E and K which are beneficial in keeping our skin healthy. The Vitamin E helps to keep skin smooth and healthy and the anti-oxidants found in this oil help to reduce wrinkles.
Coconut – 8 SPF – Coconut oil is one of the best oils out there. It is beneficial to our bodies inside and out. Read more about the health benefits of coconut oil – Coconut Oil and it’s health benefits
Olive Oil – 8 SPF – This is one of the best oils out there as far as I’m concerned. I have used it in my bath to soothe eczema outbreaks, use it to moisturize my hair, and as a sunscreen. Olive oil has been used as a sunscreen dating back to the Roman Times.

Shea Butter – 6 – 10 SPF – so nourishing to the skin, it’s just an added bonus that this incredible butter has natural sun protection as well. Benefits of Shea Nut Butter
Jojoba Oil – 4 SPF – This oil I used as a natural make up remover. It is one of the safest oils to use around your eye area. Jojoba Oil is very similar to our own skins sebum, making this an excellent oil for all skin types. It can actually help the skin to balance it’s own oils.
Jojoba oil is not only loaded with vitamins such as E and B, but also has minerals such as zinc, copper, chromium, and selenium.

I am a fan of using natural products than of those chemical-based. This is such a good read Teresa. Pointing to the benefits of these products really help me understand better the differences between these natural sunscreen products.
I have a question though if I have sensitive skin, which one should I avoid buying?
I have very sensitive skin and every time I put on sunscreen I got a bad rash, that’s when I started looking into making my own, but when I don’t have time or get caught somewhere without it, I have found I like Beauty by Earth. I have used the other two as well with no problem, it’s just a personal preference.
I didn’t know there are so many natural sunscreens available in the market. Thanks for sharing. One that caught my attention was coconut oil. Heard so much about the benefits of it. But then, its SPF is a bit low.
Nevertheless, I will head over to your Coconut Oil and Health Benefits post to learn more.
Hi Sharon, yes there are quite a few natural oils that contain a natural sunscreen. Some are higher than other and when combined can make excellent natural sunscreens.
