Coconut Oil and Health Benefits

Posted on 02-1607-01 by Tes

Coconut Oil and Health Benefitscoconut oil and hair growth, benefits of coconut oil

Coconut oil has been called one of the super foods for this decade. According to some studies, ingesting coconut oil helps an individual become healthier when used regularly.

Using coconut oil on the hair or skin remains a healthy trend for many people these days.

Coconut oil and health benefits for those who use it either on the skin or as a part of their cooking routine can help an individual become healthier in several ways, such as:

  • Consuming coconut oil has several benefits. Taking coconut oil internally has been known to boost an individual’s immune system.
  • Taking coconut oil internally fights off viruses and bacteria that can cause some illnesses.
  • Eating coconut oil has been shown to prevent yeast infections, fungus, and candida problems for many people.
  • Some folks discovered that coconut oil aids in blood sugar control.
  • Coconut oil increases metabolism by boosting thyroid function.
  • Some experts believe that the oil increases digestion and helps absorb fat.
  • Many people think that coconut oil increases endurance and energy levels.
  • Consuming coconut oil increases HDL (good cholesterol) levels.
  • Some folks use consuming coconut oil to reduce abdominal fat. Reduced abdominal fat is healthier and also leads to a healthier heart.

Ways to Ingest Coconut Oil

Ingesting coconut oil is easy. Use the versatile oil to cook or fry instead of other types of oils to reap the benefits.

Coconut oil can also be used in baked goods such as banana bread and zucchini cake. Sautéing vegetables such as kale and onion give a unique taste to your cooking as well as benefiting your health.

Coconut oil can also be added to hot cereals, such as oatmeal or cream of wheat, to give your cereals a creative taste and texture.

Adding coconut oil to protein shakes or smoothies give the drinks and added flavor, some extra health benefits, and help keep your blood sugar steady.

Reduce the Signs of Aging using Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains antioxidants. Antioxidants control oxidation, which is the effect that oxygen has on our body. Oxidation is one of the primary causes of symptoms of aging and has been found to be one of the primary contributing factors of cardiovascular diseases.

Coconut Oil and Skin

Can coconut oil affect the way your skin looks? We already know that coconut oil reduces oxidation; so using this natural oil on your skin will help keep it looking young.

If you need a great moisturizer choose coconut oil. For a skin moisturizer with no frills and no added chemicals, use coconut oil to lubricate and moisturize your skin.

Be sure to purchase and use only an organic coconut oil to avoid toxins and chemicals that can be absorbed into the skin.

Also, be sure to check the bottle’s label to ensure that the contents are free from chemicals, additives, and dyes added to it to keep the ingredients pure and safe for use.

Coconut oil remains a hypoallergenic skin moisturizer that many people can use safely and with no negative results. The super food also has antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties that help keep skin free from disorders.

If an individual has dry skin that is prone to infections or irritations, using coconut oil improves the healthy look of your skin. Coconut oil soap benefits the skin by both moisturizing and protecting it from antimicrobial agents that could cause infection.

Both coconut oil and coconut oil soap benefits the skin. Coconut oil and skin are the perfect combinations for a well moisturized, healthier and lovelier you.

Coconut Oil and Hair Growth

Do you have problems with dry, lackluster hair that grows slowly? Does your hair need moisture without using a greasy moisturizer? Does your hair break easily? If so, you will want more information on coconut oil and hair growth.

Our ancestors may well have used coconut oil as a hair moisturizer and preservative. One way to use coconut oil to benefit your hair is to use extra virgin coconut oil on your hair overnight.

Simply put a small amount of the super food’s oil in your palms and rub your hands together. Apply to your hair and comb the oil through. Allow the oil to soak in during the night while you sleep.

The fatty acids in the oil will have a chance to permeate your hair and strengthen it simultaneously. Upon arising in the morning, your hair will feel softer, look shinier and look healthier.

If you color your hair routinely or use hot implements such as a blow dryer or curling irons, a hair treatment using coconut oil overnight is required to keep your hair shiny, thick, robust and healthy looking.

The intense moisture in coconut oil will also keep your scalp from becoming dry, too. Plus the antimicrobial properties in coconut oil may also prevent flakey scalp and dandruff.

To moisturize your hair with coconut oil, you will need about one hour, some coconut oil and a shower cap. Shampoo and rinse your hair.

Place a quarter-sized dollop of coconut oil in your hands. Rub your hands together. Run your moisturized fingers and hands through your damp hair, beginning at the scalp and pulling your fingers through the hair to the ends.

Be sure to reach all areas of the hair, from scalp to ends. Cover your hair with the shower cap to provide extra heat to the moisturized strands.

Leave the cap and oil on for about one hour. Remove the cap and rinse the oils from your hair and scalp. Repeat this treatment as often as needed to keep your hair and scalp soft and moisturized.

Use coconut oil in your cooking, as a part of your skin care and to moisturize your hair. You will look and feel healthier for the experience of using this all-natural ingredient to improve your life

I can attest to the advice found in this article. Coconut oil is now part of my daily diet.
It certainly has aided in my digestion. i feel much better after using coconut oil in cooking than i ever felt when using vegetable oil or even olive oil.
Also as an athlete i have found that coconut oil has helped me loose stubborn tummy fat.
    Good article.

That is excellent information with the use of coconut oil to moisturize your hair. The air can be very dry in many climates and adding a bit of coconut oil looks like it will ease that dry hair and scalp issues.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

It really is a good moisturizer for the hair. In the dry climate we live in I often put it in my hair and let it sit for a half hour or so before shampooing.
It helps to keep it nice and moisturized.
