Himalayan Salt Lamps

Posted on 10-1903-28 by Tes

Himalayan Salt Lamps

I’ve had a Himalayan Salt Lamp on the headboard of my bed for the last 5 years or so. Why? I suffer from allergies, hay fever in particular, so I thought what have I got to lose.

About 6 months after putting the lamp in our bedroom I noticed my hay fever lessened and 5 years later I can honestly say the last two years I have not taken one allergy pill.

What is Himalayan Salt?

It is said that pink Himalayan salt is one of the purest salts, its chemical makeup is very similar to table salt but it also has up to 40 trace minerals these include calcium, magnesium and potassium which give it’s pink color and a slightly different taste than regular table salt.

Pink Himalayan salt is a rock salt, it comes from Pakistan in a region that is one of the richest salt fields in the world. These salt fields date back over 4 billions years. The salt comes from mines that are as deep as 5,000 feet below the Himalayan Mountains.

What are the benefits of a Himalayan Salt Lamp?

The lamps are heated by a light bulb, which releases the negative salt ions which help to boost the bloods flow, increase the serotonin levels in the brain, reduce allergy symptoms and improve sleep.

The main benefits of a Himalayan Salt Lamp are:

They Improve the Air Quality

This may be one of the reason why my allergies have dissipated. The lamps are said to improve the air quality helping people with allergies, asthma and a few other respiratory type illnesses

There is an ancient practice called halo therapy in which people that had chronic respiratory problems would get better after spending time in the salt caves.

The Salt Lamps can help you sleep

Positive ions are known to cause sleep problems so when the positive ions are neutralized by the salt lamp’s negative ions it helps your sleep.

They can help boost your mood

The lamps produce negative ions in the air which are said to improve a person level of serotonin, which is a natural chemical we produce that helps to boost your mood.

Not only can these lamps benefit you, but they are a beautiful addition to any home.  They truly give off a nice soft light for the bedroom, living room or guest room.

You can get these lamps in all kinds of shapes and sizes as well as color ranging from very light to dark.
