Hemp an important plant for Ten Thousand Years
The Hemp Plant has been an important part of humankind for thousands of years.
It has been used as a fiber for clothing and ropes, and a fuel source for lamps, and today hemp oil benefits are seen in hemp soap and other skin care products, as well as hemp oil and seeds for their nutritional benefits.
Hemp Oil and Skin Care
The GLA (gamma Linolenic Acid) is an essential fatty acid that resembles sebum, a natural lubricant found in our skin.
These EFa’s are needed to keep moisture in the body and are what makes hemp oil so moisturizing to the skin. 
Hemp Lotion benefits the skin by soothing and restoring dry and damaged skin relieving discomfort and increasing moisture content.

Hemp Seed
Hemp seeds contain 25% protein content the second highest among plant foods, Soy is first, but soy also contains phytic acid which prevents your body from absorbing some minerals, whereas hemp does not contain this making it a better choice.

Hemp seeds are a great source of dietary fibre, they contain vitamin E, magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium – this is a true superseed.
Adding Hemp seeds to your diet is easy. Just add it to your shake, salad, or morning cereal, sprinkle it over your yogurt, or add to your granola.
I have a friend that has a shaker sitting at her table with hemp seed and it’s used with every meal. I thought it was such a great idea, that we also have one now. It just helps to remind me to add these wonderful seeds to my salads and smoothies.

This is an awesome site. I have been really noticing how many dodgy ingredients most soaps and beauty products contain these days. Considering trying to make my own. My skin is highly sensitive to chemicals. I always end up with rashes and stuff. I think natural homemade soap is the way forward!

I have just bought myself some hemp oil as I had heard of its benefits, but this is a really useful post. I am going to be using it to make my own body oil using essential oils and I can wait. I have already used it in my salad and even my kids liked it!

I always said that Hemp is the true tree of life.
You can eat it, make cloths, shoes and ropes, and even a car out of it.
It’s a plant that can grow anywhere and is very simple to harvest and process.
Many smoked it and get relaxed, others use it a cure for cancer…some selling it and making money and the state decided that is not good and decided to waste a ridiculous amount of money on a useless drug war.
Your post is another proof that this amazing gift from nature can benefits people, Let’s use this plant, in any ways and always.

Wow…a great site. I never knew all this about hemp. So it was great lesson on hemp. The uses of hemp from clothing, household items-food is pretty amazing. So many wonderful uses for it. I have a young daughter who has eczema, regular soaps don’t work for her, would hemp soap be a good alternative? As the specialty ones cost an arm and a leg.

Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties found in hemp seed oil are great for healing dry skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne, helping to improve the moisture content for a healthier looking skin. I’m glad I came across this post about Hemp oil benefits. I recently went raw vegan and I’ve been using seeds as protein, plus the healthy fats are great for you. I had heard about hemp seeds and hemp oil but I hadn’t tried them yet. I don’t like soy. So I’m definitely gonna get some to try out as a protein source.
I also didn’t realize that hemp oil had GLA. I have very sensitive and dry skin so I really want to try out a hemp moisturizer. So should I make my own skin care products or is there a good brand that you trust?

Hi Jeanette, i use hemp seeds as well. Add them to salads, yogurt and smoothies. Hemp is to good for you. For our skin it really helps the skin to retain moisture. Soon I will have recipes on this site for lotions, but here is a site I’d recommend you check out HEMP SKIN CARE

I’ve been using a hemp body oil and absolutely love it.
The soap with hemp seeds is an excellent soap if you’d like to scrub properly. I can’t get hold of one where I live, sadly. But, you have given me the idea to maybe make it myself.
Never tried hemp seed in my diet, but it seems like an amazing source of protein. I’ll replace soy with hemp from now on.

I was also very interested to read about adding hemp oil to the soap. I’ve been researching hemp oil of late because I understand there may be benefits for sufferers of eczema and psoriasis. Hi Melissa, making soaps for Christmas Gifts is such a great thing to do, especially for those people that seem to have everything. Using Hemp oil is soap is a healthy way to help keep your skin moisturized and I can tell you I for one very rarely have an outbreak of Eczema since making my own soap.

I was particularly drawn to the usefulness of hemp in so many ways. Knowing now that it is a very healthy seed, if I can obtain it at an affordable price, I will start using it in my diet.
Also, it is good to know that hemp doesn’t rot and that’s why they used it in sails. Very interesting research has provided a lot of insight as to why hemp is so popular today.

I do not know a whole lot about hemp oil, but I have heard that it can help with hair loss. Is that correct?
I also did not know that hempseed oil can help with acne. I do suffer from acne sometimes and will definitely give hemp oil a shot one day.

Thanks for the useful information you provide here. Hemp oil is already on my radar as my daughter suffers from atopic dermatitis and I heard that hemp oil might be worth a try. You outlined why it is good for the skin and helps keeping it smooth and moisturized. Didn’t know about the high protein content, which makes it an alternative to soy products.
