Benefits Charcoal Soap

Black Soap (Charcoal Soap)

Benefits of Black Soap
It sounds bizarre, but activated charcoal is used in natural soaps and cleansers all over the world and has a number of different benefits. It has been used for thousands of years by many cultures.

Most notably, the ancient Egyptians used activated charcoal in poultices to keep wounds clean and free of infection because of its natural disinfectant properties.

It has also been used as an antidote to poisons and to detoxify the body.

When used for medicinal purposes, the charcoal is ground up and added to poultices and soaps or ingested to purify the blood.

Activated Charcoal

Charcoal can be made into a number of different types of soap including liquid soaps and fair trade soaps. The liquid soap is typically infused with essential oils.

Where to purchase Activated Charcoal

When made into a bar of soap, native plants of Ghana and other parts of West Africa such as palm tree leaves, cocoa pods and plantains are used, which give the finished product a dark brown or black color.

Because different tribes use different herbs and types of oils, the soap can also feel somewhat gritty.

Black Soap Acne Benefits

Activated charcoal also has incredible absorption properties because of its porous nature, which is why it has been and still is used in water filtration.

When used in African black soap, the charcoal can actually draw out the oily residue in your skin and open pores, which can help clear up blackheads, bumps and acne.

Because of this largely porous state, black soap acne treatment can also draw out and absorb vast quantities of toxins, chemicals and foreign substances much more effectively than chemical soaps, facial scrubs or other acne products.

In fact, it has triple the detoxifying power of any other soap or scrub on the market, making it effective at not only treating acne, but preventing it as well.

Black Soap Benefits for Other Skin Conditions

Acne isn’t the only thing black soap can treat. It is even be beneficial for other dermal afflictions, such as eczema.

Its mild exfoliant properties can help to heal the itchy areas associated with eczema while evening out discoloration of the skin the disease may cause.

African black soap can also be used to treat psoriasis because of its ability to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, dirt and grime.

This can be beneficial in alleviating the symptoms of psoriasis as well as preventing future episodes of the disease.

Other Black Soap Benefits

Activated charcoal soap can also be used to as a shampoo. When used in this manner, activated charcoal soap can be used to treat scalp conditions including dry scalp and dandruff.

Unlike other chemical soaps on the market, charcoal soap will not leave your skin feeling oily or dry, which makes it perfect to cleanse any skin type.

Black soap is also mild enough to use on your face and body every day and will leave your skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated.

With all these benefits, you may think charcoal soap is unaffordable. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. This soap is inexpensive and produces a rich lather, making you feel pampered and your skin feeling luxurious.

    Hello Tes,

Very cool article about Charcoal Soap! I’ve heard of Charcoal toothpaste, but I’ve never heard of the soap version.

It seems to have great benefit, but looks terrible haha! I thought Charcoal soap was going to be very expensive, but thank you for clarifying in your article that it is quite inexpensive.

I definitely want to learn how to make my own.

    Thanks,
    Eric

I liked reading your post on charcoal soap although I’ve never seen it for sale although I have charcoal face wash and toothpaste.

I like the fact it is organic  and free from chemicals and I’d be pretty interested in trying it to see what it’s like.

It’s interesting to read yet again how something that’s naturally made is refreshing and better for you then something that is man made and full of chemicals that leaves your skin dry.

    Great article and great website!

Wow I did not realize that there were so many applications for charcoal. I have only heard of the toothpaste which is suppose to make your teeth really white, and the charcoal masks that were popular a little while ago. This might be something I want to try as I have really oily skin on my face and breakout quite often so I might have to give this a shot.

Hi Kit I assure you your skin won’t turn black.  Sometimes you will see a bit of black when using the soap, but it washes away with the water.  Sadly I don’t ship to Malaysia but you can order some Charcoal soap through this link.Charcoal Soap

Very glad to find this post, the charcoal soap is something new for me.  In Eastern Europe charcoal is very well known in a medicine, especially for intestinal problems… I see that it has a multifunctional use, definitely would like to try a charcoal soap. Thank you for sharing this great information

Charcoal has many other uses for sure.  In soap it really does help draw toxins from the skin too and added to the right soap recipe will leave your skin soft and moisturized.
